I first visited the (Paignton and) Dartmouth Steam Railway last year. Whilst a very good day out behind GWR 78xx 'Manor' 4-6-0s 7827 'Lydham Manor' and visiting 7820 'Dinmore Manor', the weather was not in my favour; drizzly and overcast throughout. Now, back in Devon, the glorious sunshine made itself known so it was back to Paignton Queen's Park for a jaunt along the riviera route. The locomotives in service that day were GWR Churchward 42xx 'Heavy Frieght' 2-8-0 4277 'Hercules' (nearing the end of its boiler ticket) and the subject of this video, BR Standard 4MT 75014 'Braveheart'. Originally owned by Bert Hitchen, she was based for many years on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and also operates the steam specials along the West Highland Line, gaining the name 'Braveheart' during this period. In 2002, she was sold to the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway and ran up until her next overhaul was due at the end of that year. After a long, arduous repair, 75014 finally returned to action in November 2016, and is now back at work on the Kingwear branch. In this video, we take a trip from Kingswear along the picturesque railway to Paignton, calling at all stations and passing the southbound service along the way. I hope you all enjoy the video. Stay tuned for a video of GWR 'Small Prairie' 2-6-2T 5526 on the South Devon Railway very shortly. Feel free to comment and subscribe!
