From The Archive: Summer Sunshine on the NYMR - July 2014 - YouTube CWSteam&Diesel

Over a period of four days between 25th and 28th July 2014, I made a prolonged visit to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. With the all-steam all day gold timetable in operation, and the iconic lineside scenery at it's most beautiful, i knew this would be an oppertunity too good to miss. Upon arrival early on Sunday morning, i spent most of my time around the constant hive of activity at Grosmont, with trains coming in and out and tourists completely engrossed in the fabulous Yorkshire countryside. However, just after noon i ventured further up the line to Levisham, an area i have not yet explored in detail. After spending a couple of hours there (and upon hearing the news that LNER A4 60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley' had failed on the Pullman service), i returned to Grosmont to capture the repaired 60007 depart with the 16:30 service for Pickering (See Separate Video). However, i knew it was too good to last! On Monday and Tuesday, me and a few other volunteers on the line were tasked with repairing some old signalling cables at Hunting Bridge, just south of New Bridge. This rarely-filmed-from location allowed me to capture some unique vantage points of the many locomotives that trundled by. During my final day, i spent the morning back at Grosmont, cleaning the under-maintennace LMS Black 5MT 45428 'Eric Treacy'. The only footage obtained on this day was that of BR Standard 4MT 4-6-0 75029 'The Green Knight' departing for Pickering. Finally, after a spot of much, i headed home for a much needed rest. However, despite all of this footage i had obtained during my visit, hardly any of it found it's way into a video! So, seven months after it was filmed, here is the complete collection of what i captured over my stay: Summer, Sunshine and Steam.
