With the ever expanding growth of the preservation movement, as well as frequent steam traffic on the National Network, many photographers are often out in force to catch a glimpse of yesteryear in the present day, and much of their work is posted to Youtube for other rail fans to enjoy and explore. But what makes CWSteam&Diesel different? I know it's not all about just flat caps and fry-ups on the footplate. There is a community, building every day, celebrating and appreciating what the railways have done for us, and continue to provide us with. The rescue and restoration of countless locomotives, hundreds of stations, track of all gauges and lengths just because we don't want to let them die. 2018 marks fifty years of the end of steam on British Railways, but the fire hasn't died out yet. Modern equivalents do get us from A to B in the blink of an eye, but the growl of a heritage diesel, romping away with a goods set, or the sight of a majestic steam engine, hurtling towards your local station at the head of a luxury dining special.
