european parliament elections uk Saryusz-Wolski: EU still has big stake in NATO, Russia and Lisbon Treaty

With the European Peoples Party holding many of the key offices in the European Union except for foreign policy the party finds itself with a lot of responsibility. Jacek Saryusz-Wolski, 61, a Member of the European Parliament from Poland and the EPP, talked to New Europe on the sidelines of the partys Congress in Bonn, Germany about relations with NATO, the eastern Member States and Europe after the Lisbon Treaty. He is also a member of the Delegation for relations with the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, the Delegation to the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly, the Committees on Foreign Affairs, on the Financial, Economic and Social Crisis, the Delegation to the EU-Armenia, EU-Azerbaijan and EU-Georgia Parliamentary Cooperation, and Budgets. He has his Masters and doctorate degrees in economics from the
University of Lodz and did post-graduate studies at the Centre Europeen Universitaire in Nancy, France. He was a research at the University of Lodz and head of the European Research Center and a fellow or member of a number of prestigious European universities and institutions and has served as Vice-Chairman of the EPP since 2006. In Bonn, he talked to New Europe.
