As 2017 begins, it's time to look back on the best of CWSteam&Diesel 2016. This year has seen my first visits to a number of heritage railways as well as the return of several mainline favourites. Whilst the weather has not always been excellent (this is the British Isles of course!), the performances of many different locomotives more than make up for it. The gala action has been supreme nationwide, and more and more engines and returning to service after many years rusting away. This compilation features my best shots from both the mainline and preserved network, whether it's down to panning, lighting, whistles or just sheer bark. There's even a narrow-gauge engine this time!
