We've been seeing a lot of LNER Gresley A3 60103 'Flying Scotsman' recently haven't we? Only right in my books as it was away from the public eye for ten years. 60103 continues to draw the crowds wherever she ventures but thankfully the numbers of trespassing incidents are beginning to drop. On Sunday 10th July, the A3 was rostered on the first 'Waverley' of the year, a summer steam service that usually runs from Carnforth up the West Coast Main Line to Carlisle, and returns via the Settle and Carlisle. However, due to a heavy landslip on that line near Appleby, all trains on the S&C are cancelled and cannot travel further north than Appleby. Therefore, the trains have been rerouted to start at York and travel via Low Fell and Hexham to Carlisle, and return on the same route. The first location is at Ricknall Lane, about a mile north of Aycliffe. Here, 60103 is seen powering around the curve on the approach to Ferryhill from two angles. The return run was captured at Glebe Road in Darlington, where 'Flying Scotsman' coasts past the camera slowing down for a ten-minute bathing stop in the station. I hope you all enjoy the video. Do not trespass soon the railway! Look out for upcoming footage from the Dartmouth and South Devon Railways soon. Feel free to comment and subscribe!
