
Locomotion: The National Railway Museum at Shildon held their annual 'Autumn Steam Gala' over the weekend of 19th and 20th September. The event revolved around a 'World War Two' theme and featured two visiting guest locomotives for the occasion: Southern Railway Maunsell N15 'King Arthur' 4-6-0 777 'Sir Lamiel' (Part of the National Collection and visiting from the Great Central Railway) and Hunsley WD Austerity 0-6-0ST 75254, from the Bo'ness and Kinniel Railway. When i arrived early on Sunday Morning, 75254 and long-term Shildon resident Furness Railway A5 0-4-0 No. 20 were operating brake van rides along the demonstration line, with 'Sir Lamiel' also in light steam. Static engines from the museum included GWR Churchyard 28XX 2-8-0 2818, LMS Stanier Black 5MT 4-6-0 5000 and LNER Gresley V2 4-6-0 4771 'Green Arrow'. USATC S160 2-8-0 2253 was also present, making it's last appearance at Locomotion before moving to Adam Dalgliesh Engineering ltd for a full overhaul to working order.
